Sourcing standards

Every calculator formula on Statura comes from an established, published source. We cite the source on each calculator's "The formula" section. Primary sources include:

• World Health Organization (WHO) — BMI adult categories.
• National Institutes of Health (NIH) — energy expenditure and body composition.
• American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) — target heart rate and training zones.
• American Council on Exercise (ACE) — body fat percentage categories.
• American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) — pregnancy dating and milestones.
• Institute of Medicine / National Academy of Medicine (IOM/NAM) — pregnancy weight gain guidelines.
• Compendium of Physical Activities — MET values for calorie burn.
• Peer-reviewed publications for the Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict, Katch-McArdle, Epley, Brzycki, Boer, James, Hume, Robinson, Miller, Devine, and Hamwi formulas.

Methodology

All calculation logic is implemented as pure TypeScript functions that run client-side in your browser. Each formula is implemented exactly as published, with internal computation done in SI (metric) units and display conversion applied only at output. Worked numeric examples are provided on every calculator so you can verify the math yourself.

Review process

Every calculator and article carries a "reviewed for accuracy on" date. Reviews check that the formula matches its source, that the worked example is correct, and that the stated limitations are accurate. When guidance changes, the date is refreshed in a single place per page.

E-E-A-T and YMYL

Health and pregnancy content falls under Google's YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) category. We build for E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) by: citing real sources, carrying a visible "not medical advice" disclaimer on every calculator and article, avoiding unqualified medical claims, and presenting review dates and bylines.

Limitations, stated honestly

Every calculator names what it does not account for. We surface limitations rather than hide them, because a number without context is misleading. See each calculator's "Limitations" section for specifics.

Advertising and editorial independence

Statura may display advertisements served by third-party networks, including Google AdSense. Advertising never influences our calculator formulas, results, or editorial content — calculations are built from published scientific formulas and articles are written independently of any advertiser. Ads are always clearly labelled as "Advertisement" and are never placed inside a calculator widget, so they cannot be mistaken for results or interfere with use of the tool. Our privacy policy describes how advertising partners use cookies and how you can opt out.
